Syngas LNT (Lean NOx Trap) will be offered first as a retrofit diesel emissions control system with original equipment applications to follow. The retrofit Syngas LNT system reduces NOx emissions by 70% and eliminates the complexity and cost of urea-scr systems. No urea distribution infrastructure, on-board storage tanks, heaters or injectors are required. Syngas LNT is able to significantly reduce NOx emissions even when engine exhaust gas temperatures are low which is typical of diesel vehicles driven in city stop/start traffic.
This system uses the same core components as the Syngas DPF system to reduce component manufacturing and maintenance costs. Syngas enables LNT (Lean NOx Trap) regeneration and desulfation to be initiated at lower temperatures which increases LNT durability. Syngas LNT works with Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel or alternative fuels such as biodiesel.
Syngas is a superior regenerating agent for Lean NOx Traps. The result: a much simpler, smaller, lower weight and lower cost solution to NOx emission reduction for medium-duty and light-duty vehicles.
