Field trials are an important step towards product sales. We want to share our progress with prospective customers and partners to build confidence in the performance of our syngas systems.
Field trials in Q1 to Q3 2009 will focus on the Syngas DPF system retrofitted onto medium duty trucks in several truck fleets. These field trials will involve daily over-the-road use of our systems for a minimum of 1,000 hours to demonstrate the reliability and durability of these systems.
Daily field trials of the Syngas DPF system are under way using a 2002 model year medium duty truck. This vehicle is driving multiple routes in the Vancouver region to test system performance in city and highway driving conditions. Daily testing has confirmed the Syngas DPF system’s capabilities to initiate DPF regeneration at 200°C and sustain regeneration in city start/stop traffic. This system uses a quadrant-based regeneration strategy to optimize low temperature regeneration and to ensure a safe, reliable operation.
A sample of recent test data is provided on the right showing the Syngas DPF system's performance during regeneration. During this test, DPF regeneration was interrupted for a 30 minute stop. Upon re-start, the system continued DPF regeneration from low temperatures and operated automatically without driver intervention.
Through our retrofit product partners, NxtGen will apply for and complete the retrofit product Verification requirements of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the Air Resources Board of California.
