Oct.15, 2008. Project Engineer - Prototype Fabrication and Delivery, Burnaby BC
Responsibilities
- Deliver prototypes by working with prototype shops
- Prepare detailed schedule to include engineering activities, long lead items, procurement, delivery, fabrication and testing
- Prepare final cost for units based on quotes, etc
- Work with vendors on manufacturing details.
- Place orders for parts, assemblies and raw materials, and expedite orders as necessary
- Establish (with engineering) and enforce control plans to manufacture
- Inspect parts to drawing and correct where required
- Collect, organize quality documentation, prepare quality records.
- Perform limited assembly work
- Prepare “As-Build” documentation and picture file of build
- Assist with the operating manual
- Coordinate packaging and shipping to client
- Report weekly on project status
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- Engineering degree and strong mechanical aptitude
- Minimum 3 years experience in Electro-Mechanical product assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and calibrating and experience with project management tools.
- Proficiency in reading, and following mechanical drawings, engineering schematics, assembly manuals, and BOMs
- Ability to work comfortably with Microsoft Office including , projects, PowerPoint and Visio
- Experienced in QA inspection of machined parts, Work In Progress, final product assembly
- Detail oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
- A strong sense of accountability and a desire to continually improve oneself.
Beneficial Skills
- Excellent manual dexterity for wiring, soldering, assembly, tube bending and to use bench/hand tools
- Knowledge of and design software experience such as SolidWorks or AutoCad
