JOB OPPORTUNITY – CONTROLLER

NxtGen Emissions Control Inc. is an emerging supplier and technology innovator in hydrocarbon fuel processing and is leveraging this technology to support clean diesel, alternative fuel use and advanced gasoline engine applications.
 
The Controller is responsible for directing the financial affairs and internal administration of the Company. He/she is responsible for the timely delivery of accurate financial reporting and maintaining our reputation for diligent and prudent management of shareholder resources. The Controller is also responsible for and the continuing development of an effective team of accounting and finance, computerized systems and office administration.
Responsibilities:
 
·         Supervises full cycle accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts
Receivable, Payroll, Capital Assets and Product Costing.
·         Monitors cash flow and provides forecasts and recommendations to management.
·         Maintains and upgrades the information systems and processes.   Ensures proper controls are in place, the systems are used correctly and effectively, and data security is maintained.
·         Manages banking, insurance and outside accounting relationships and the employees who handle the daily transaction relationships
·         Supervises the preparation of financial statements and regulatory reports including meaningful reviews of variance explanations prepared by your team.
·         Develops and manages internal financial management controls to ensure cost effective financial responsibility
·         Provides tax planning, in conjunction with external accountant, and ensures compliance with all provincial, federal, payroll, and other applicable taxes.
·         Participates, coordinates and directs the preparation of the revised plans as often as necessary to reflect changing strategies.
·         In conjunction with the insurance provider, evaluates and recommends insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities. Ensures risk management policies are in place.
·         Keeps management team apprised of all financial issues pertaining to company operations. Makes presentations at company meetings on the finances.
·         Oversees administration of the computer network system, liaises with the Systems Administrator.
·         Develops policies and procedures to determine best practices in Finance.
·         Oversees the office administration function including reception, office purchases, and HR records management
·         Builds, mentors and sustains a high performance, motivated finance team.
·         Creates an environment where all team members are held fully accountable for meeting performance requirements and building the competencies in their respective functions.
·         Ensures best practices in key processes are continuously implemented throughout the business unit.
·         Carries out other projects and duties as required.
 
Qualifications
 
·         Education: A recognized Canadian accounting certificate is a requirement (CMA/CA/CGA). A BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related major is an additional asset
·         Experience: 5+ years of experience in financial management since obtaining your certificate
·         Familiarity with Canadian GAAP.
·         Corporate financial planning experience is mandatory. Experience with sophisticated spreadsheet linking will make life a lot easier.
·         Knowledgeable in all areas of accounting, payroll and tax compliance 
·         Advanced working knowledge of Excel and Word.
·         Ability to function and perform under pressure.
·         Strong oral and written communication skills.
·         Ability to perform accurately in a detail oriented environment.
